      1. Hey Trish, we didn’t hear much else about it, and until seeing this document we had no confirmation. Is there any more context with these documents, more documents about her parents, or other information about the ship and its passengers? Where are the original documents stored, and would we be able to come see them in person?

      2. Hi Nicholas,
You can order the complete file through the National Archives at Seattle, 6125 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115. Seattle.archives@nara.gov or call (206) 336-5115.
https://chineseexclusionfiles.com/request-a-search-for-your-file/. Ask for a copy of the file for Gin Yut Chang, Seattle file #7031/39. There is also a file for Gin Yut Chang’s father, Gin Fook Tsue, Seattle file #7032/169. It probably has more information that Gin Yut Ching’s file. Also ask for the ship manifest for s.s. President Jackson, arriving in Seattle on August 9, 1930.
If you live in the area, make an appointment for your visit. They do not accept walk-ins.
If you come in on a Wednesday, some of the volunteers who index the files and I will be there. Let me know when you are coming. I will look forward to hearing about what you find in the files.
        Trish
